Dondi.ai Review (2026): the Media Studio saves it

Dondi.ai is an app I tested in late May 2026. It launched alongside FlirtCam but on a completely different angle: not cam AI, classic AI companion territory, with one standout pitch — a Media Studio that actually helps you create images and videos without wrestling with prompts.

First impression: not blowing my mind. But dig a little, and there’s one thing that saves the run — the assisted creation.

First contact — a clean character catalog

The home screen sets the stage in two seconds: sidebar with Browse/Chat on the left, 70% OFF banner in your face (first hint of the aggressive marketing), character carousel (Sun, Bae, Shimada, Agnes, Sofia, Elena, Linh, Scarlett, Jade, Isabella…), search bar, and quick filters by age range and ethnicity (Mature, 18-19, Asian, Latina, Ebony, Petite, Curvy).

The catalog is compact but readable. No clutter, no visual noise. The Premium 70% OFF button pulses in the bottom left — the app never lets you forget there’s a paywall.

The Media Studio — where the app actually shines

Here’s what really kept me on Dondi: their Media Studio.

On most AI girlfriend apps, when you want to generate an image, you get an empty prompt field and good luck. If you’re not used to writing prompts, you get something ugly, you retry, you give up. Dondi went a different route: the app suggests prompts for you. Pick a character, click “generate,” and you see ready-made suggestions you can validate or tweak.

And for video, it’s even more radical: one click. Pick what you want to do, get your video. No complex parameters, no token math at the moment of generation.

In the screenshot above, you see the Media Studio in “Make video from main photo” mode: character preview up top, preset scene tags (Cumshot, Fingering, Blowjob, Doggy, Cowgirl, Missionary POV…), a long prompt already written for you (editable, but you start with a solid base), Spicy toggle ON/OFF (moderation), 720×1280 portrait format, Generate button. You literally don’t have to invent anything — the app does 80% of the work.

For someone who’s new to this kind of app, that’s a real advantage. For an advanced user who wants to tweak every word of the prompt, it works but feels less rewarding than apps like Promptchan where you get full control.

The chat — where it falls short

Here’s the chat UI: character on the left (Cimen Bademci, 22, “brand strategist”), conversation in the middle, and on the right the character bio + Media Studio button + level system (Level 1 Stranger, 0 XP, 0/50 to Lv.2, Messages/Milestones/Days counters). Visually it’s clean. And the Media Studio button front and center on the right is consistent with the positioning.

Let’s be honest: the chat is the weak link at Dondi. And I’m not the only one saying it — their feature requests board is public, and the top user requests confirm it in black and white.

At the top of the requests (as of my test):

• “Longer videos / dialogue” (14 votes) — a user literally writes that the replies are “very short answers, quick,” and unfavorably compares Dondi to Candy AI putting out up to 55 seconds of video. Same thing on the dialogue: too short, no depth
• “Non prompted chat response” (8 votes) — the AI never says anything unless you type first. No proactive messages, no “she’s thinking of you.” That’s a baseline you get on Joi, Candy, Swipey
• Three separate requests on memory: “Fix memory,” “Memory improvement,” “Lost train of thought.” The app forgets, mixes up what you said with what belongs to the character, and sometimes loops on an old reply for an entire day

For an AI girlfriend, memory and dialogue ARE the core product. Dondi knowing it and publishing it transparently on a public board is honest. That it’s still unresolved in May 2026 is awkward.

The voices — pleasant, but English only

The voices are non-robotic and genuinely nice to listen to. Not the flat TTS of 2022 — this is modern, clean.

But — English only. No French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese voices. For a non-English speaker, it means you can chat in your language (the LLM translates), but as soon as you want voice, you’re back in English. That’s a hard immersion break.

FlirtCam offers a per-character language picker with French as a native option — that’s become the baseline on this segment.

The level system — present, not revolutionary

Dondi includes a leveling system (gamification). You use the app, you unlock stuff, you get a sense of progression. Not bad on paper, and you don’t see it often on this segment.

Honestly? Not revolutionary. It’s a copy of what you find in tons of free-to-play mobile games. It structures engagement, but it’s not what’s going to make you stay if the chat falls flat.

Here’s the Premium page: countdown at the top down to milliseconds (“OFFER ENDS IN — 09:49:323”), banner “Premium 70% OFF — only 17 yearly spots left today,” three stacked plans (Monthly at $14.99/mo, Yearly at $5.99/mo flagged “Best Value · Save 70%,” 3 Months at $11.99/mo), and the Premium Benefits list below. UX-wise it works — but it’s also a textbook case of manufactured scarcity.

For you if:

Not for you if:

— You want deep, structured conversation — the chat is still in beta mode, go check Candy AI, Joi, or Luvr.ai — You want native French/IT/NL/ES voice — Dondi is English only on the audio side — You want live video chat AI — wrong format, go to FlirtCam.AI — You hate scarcity-timer paywalls — the checkout marketing is pretty aggressive

Dondi.ai — 7.6/10

Dondi is an app that bets everything on its assisted visual creation, and it delivers on that front. The Media Studio is a real differentiator: for a beginner who wants to generate NSFW images and videos without wrestling with prompts, Dondi makes it accessible. The “one-click” video bet is genuinely well executed.

But on the core product of an AI girlfriend — the chat — the app isn’t there yet. Replies too short, memory that mixes things up, no proactive messages. And the voices, despite their pleasant quality, are English only — which kills the experience for any non-English user.

The 7.6/10 is an honest compromise between the strengths (Media Studio + voice + yearly price) and the real limits (chat + memory + language + paywall). Worth it for 18+ media creation, skip it if you want a real conversation with memory that holds.
